Here’s how it started…

So, I have been asked by at least one person how I got started writing these books.  Well, to be honest, it started as a vision. Yeah, I know, I sound crazy.  But, I had a vision of a girl and a guy standing in a kitchen of some sort of RV or something of the like.  It must have been a pretty powerful vision, because I wanted to know who those people were, where they were, and what they were doing.

So, I wrote about them.  They were Mike and Casey.  And that scene is in Build My World, probably about halfway through.

Well, who are Mike and Casey?  Well, I’ve got to tell you, back in 2002 I was really into NSYNC.  Like, I was listening to them nonstop.  There’s a blog post about that, too, which might explain why a 27-year old was listening to a boy band obsessively at least a year after the height of their popularity.

Anyway, it was clear that Mike was in a boy band, but who was this chick, and what were they doing?

So, I wrote the book, Build My World, which was not the original title.  The original title was 253 Days.   I changed the title before I self-published it for the first time in 2006.   Of course, I had introduced 4 other boy banders (I’m sure that’s not a word), so I felt like they would all need a story.

About the title:  I wasn’t in love with the orginal title.  In 2004, (my favorite) JC Chasez released his solo album that included this song called Build My World.  It’s a BEAUTIFUL song.  So, I basically stole that title.  I used the phase “build my life” in one of the critical scenes in the story, and I changed the words to ‘build my world.”   Sorry, JC.  Love you!

Anyway, that’s the nitty gritty on how and why I got started on this series.
